“Concentrated, complex and enormously appealing, this is seriously good wine from a wonderful producer, doing what they do best. Loads of lovely dark fruit, a rich, meaty leatheriness and refreshing, balancing acidity. Best decanted for an hour or two to help dial down the tannins a touch, you'll be richly rewarded for your patience.”

what producer says
Prova No. 1 Tinto 2015 is a blend of Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. It's a full-flavoured expression of the Douro with good acidity and soft tannins. This was achieved through picking earlier than most other producers; gentle handling through fermentation (i.e. minimal plunging, cool fermentation); and harmonious blending (Tinta Barroca brings vibrancy and red fruits; Touriga Franca brings richness and blacks fruits; Tinta Roriz brings structure and complexity). It's a wine that is drinking beautifully right now.

Our love of wine and nature has grown over the years, and it became our dream to own a special vineyard. Luckily enough, one of us, Matt Gant, is a winemaker (working in Australia), who has visited Portugal several...
