Description

Why white port isn’t in everyone’s fridge is a mystery to us. Great cold, by itself and incredible over ice, with lemon juice and topped up with tonic. A sure way to be the one left standing when everyone’s on the gin! An off-dry style with flavours and smells of nashi pears, lemons, pineapples and clementines. We love this so much and it’s time to share, it won’t disappoint!

MEET THE PRODUCERS

Quinta da Pedra Alta

Quinta da Pedra Alta’s entire ethos was founded on a group of good friends who wanted their dream of growing and making wine all over the world to become a reality. From leafy Essex to Portugal’s Douro Valley, via the Barossa in Australia, it’s been a long journey, but their dream has finally come true. Combining a love of wine and nature, Quinta da Pedra Alta is the culmination of a desire to harness the considerable combined expertise of Matt Gant, their Aussie-based winemaker and João Pires, their Douro Valley residing winemaker. Matt regularly flies to Portugal to help with the harvest while João runs the winery and vineyard, year-round.

Matt is a partner in, and winemaker at, the renowned First Drop Wines in the Barossa Valley. Always looking to expand his winemaking horizons he developed a considerable interest in Portugal, particularly the Douro Valley.

Born and raised in Alijó in the Duoro, João has been making wine for over 20 years. He first met Matt while working on the 2007 harvest in the Alentejo and has continued to make wine in both the northern and southern hemispheres ever since.

Isabelle is the vineyard and winery owner who has lived in France, Germany and Portugal and travelled extensively around the world, working for luxury beauty brands. When asked, she will always say that wine and laughter, friends and family are the best anti-ageing remedies available. So when the opportunity arose to acquire the Duoro vineyards João had been working in since 2009, they jumped at the chance. Boasting a spectacular location and being in a winemaking region with enormous potential, it was the perfect place to break bread and make wine with friends and family.

Luis, Mónica and Andy complete the extended family. Luis and Mónica have been working at the Quinta for as long as João and continue to work their financial and administrative magic, keeping everything ticking over beautifully. Andy joined the team as Commercial Director after a long career in the UK wine trade. Managing with passion and dedication, he lives and breathes Quinta da Pedra Alta.
